PAUL MCCARTNEY: Fix it to keep his mind from wandering. GEORGE HARRISON: What can he do with half a hole? RINGO STARR: And I've got a hole in my pocket. GEORGE HARRISON: And we brought back lots of lovely souvenirs. PAUL MCCARTNEY: Yeah, it was a great party. RINGO STARR: That's what we've been doing all night. RINGO STARR: I can't seem to get it out of my head. The Yellow Submarine movie exists as pure charm, expressed in fantastical imagery on the Beatles unforgettable music. A wonderfully vibrant and gorgeous cartoon and a treat for the eye and ear. The movie is fictional with stuff you wouldn't find in any other animated movie. OLD FRED: What you need is 'H' for hurry, 'E' for ergent, 'L' for love me and 'P' for please help. I feel like an old, splintered drumstick. RINGO: Compared with my life, Eleanor Rigby's was a gay, mad whirl. JOHN: In Pepperland, all things are possible. GEORGE: Hey, that's a funny place to leave a goldfish bowl. GEORGE: How many do you think there are in all?ĬHIEF BLUE MEANIE: The hills are alive.ĬHIEF BLUE MEANIE: Who is responsible for this?ĬHIEF BLUE MEANIE: My dear friend let us not forget that heaven is blue. Metrocyclonic and stereophonic, this motor, I see, has a broken down thing. JEREMY HILLARY BOOB, PHD.: Turbo-prop, super-combustible spring. RINGO: He's so smart, he doesn't even remember what he knows. JOHN: Maybe we should call a road service. OLD FRED: By Neptune's knickerbockers, she's puttered out. John, you haven't half got a big mouth, haven't you? JEREMY HILLARY BOOB, PHD.: If I spoke prose, you'd all find out, I don't know what I talk about. JEREMY HILLARY BOOB, PHD.: I must complete my bust, two novels, finish my blueprints, begin my beguine. But that isn't logical, is it? It must have been one of them unidentified flying cupcakes or a figment of my imagination. George's longer hair reflects him during a different phase of the Beatles, but was used here to help distinguish him from the other three members.Ĭomments, questions, and constructive feedback of this model is greatly appreciated.RINGO: I could have sworn there was a yellow submarine. For example, some colours were altered and colour schemes simplified due to limitations of LDD. A few exceptions were made by necessity or by choice. The custom minifigs of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr were based on their respective likenesses featured on the film poster / soundtrack cover. At the current size and piece count, this is a very manageable sized model for play as well as display. In “true” minifig scale, the submarine would be considerably larger and would require many more pieces. Though the submarine fits the minifigs nicely, I made the submarine much smaller than it would otherwise be if it were “true” minifig scale. It is difficult to tell from the digital renders, but through the windows you can see whether the vessel is occupied or not. Note that Technic blocks with holes and transparent round 1x1 plates were used for the windows. Perhaps the funnest part of this model, however, is that the top cover of the chassis is removable to reveal a cockpit that fits all four minifig Beatles members. It features a functioning propeller and rudder, as well as a set of periscopes that can rotate to different angular positions. This model was built using LEGO Digital Designer (LDD). This model is inspired by the iconic submarine from which the film (and associated soundtrack album) gets its title.ĭimensions: Length 26 cm x Width 5.5 cm x Height (w/stand) 16 cm Released in 1968, “Yellow Submarine” is an animated musical fantasy film inspired by the music of the Beatles, arguably the greatest rock band of all time.
